On August 16, 2023, the Samruk-Kazyna Fund summed up the results of the Zheti Kadam modular program for the development of young leaders. Teams consisting of specialists from the Group of Companies have been preparing for the protection of projects for seven months. The jury of the final stage included members of the Boards of Directors, the Heads of portfolio companies of the Fund.
Each work had to meet the following criteria:
- Replication by the Samruk-KazynaJSC Group of Companies, i.e. the possibility of scaling;
- Economic feasibility (calculations of the project and its logical justification);
- Compliance with ESG principles;
- Practical application
The first stage of selection was held in November last year in Turkestan. At the youth forum, 49 out of 200 participants were chosen on the basis of a special challenge. They, in turn, were divided into seven teams, where two experienced mentors from the presidential youth personnel reserve were assigned for each of the teams. 7 training modules were held in seven cities of Kazakhstan.
The Zheti Kadam Program was developed at Samruk-Kazyna JSC as part of implementation of the youth policy support program, as well as with the aim of making future leaders out of young and effective employees of the Fund and portfolio companies, teaching them techniques for implementing managerial competencies, developing communication skills, the ability to work in a team, understanding the principles of budget planning.
In his welcoming speech, the Chairman of the Management Board of Samruk-Kazyna JSC Nurlan Zhakupov noted that the main priority in the HR Policy of the Fund is human capital. Today more than 80 thousand specialists under the age of 35 work in the Samruk-Kazyna Group. “Special attention is paid to them in order to use their potential as effectively as possible”, – Zhakupov said.
The Managing Director for Corporate Governance, Social and Labor Relations and Occupational Safety of Samruk-Kazyna JSC Gibrat Auganov thanked each participant and mentors. “Today’s event is devoted to the 15th anniversary of the Samruk-Kazyna Fund. You know that in 2022 we approved a new HR Policy. I hope all seven projects will contribute to the development of the Group of Companies,” – he said.
The jury recognized the work “Reduction of the Hydrocarbon Footprint at Enterprises” as the best project of the Zheti Kadam Program. The second place was given to the project “Implementation of the Youth Policy”, the third place was given to the team with the work on the topic “Safety Culture at Enterprises”. The winners will have to implement their project in one of the companies of the Group over the next two years.
