How timely assistance on board saved a passenger’s life

On 10 January 2025, one of the passengers on QAZAQ AIR flight #426 between Kyzylorda and Astana felt unwell. Before take-off, the flight attendants offered to call a medic to assess his condition, but the passenger said he felt fine and did not need medical assistance.

After takeoff, he asked for water and the flight attendants brought it several times, providing the necessary assistance.

According to the crew, 55 minutes before landing, the passenger felt severe pain in the heart area. Bekturgan Dinmuhamed, a 7th year student of Astana Medical University, responded to a request for a medic on board. He measured his blood pressure, which turned out to be low, and started to provide first aid. After a while the passenger lost consciousness. Flight attendants and a student of the capital’s academy immediately started resuscitation actions, after which the passenger regained consciousness.

He remained conscious for the rest of the flight, but during the descent he felt sick again. Upon arrival in Astana, the passenger was taken to a medical facility.

‘The passenger’s life was saved thanks to the high professionalism and promptness of the crew and the responsiveness of the MUA student. The airline representative contacted the passenger and learnt that his condition has stabilised and he is now under the care of a doctor. The passenger expressed his gratitude to the flight attendants and Dinmuhamed for the assistance rendered,’ the airline’s official representative Akbota Orynbayeva emphasised.

QAZAQ AIR expresses its great gratitude to Dinmukhamed Bekturgan, a 7th year student of Astana Medical University, for the assistance provided on board.
